Single/Double Chamber Vacuum Calibration Tank for PVC/HDPE/PPR Pipe Extrusion
Product Overview
JMG Machinery Single/Double Chamber Vacuum Calibration Tank is a critical sizing and cooling device for pipe extrusion lines, designed for thermoplastic materials such as PVC, HDPE, PPR, and PE. Fully constructed from SUS304 stainless steel, it uses stable vacuum pressure to pull the molten pipe tightly against the sizing sleeve, while an efficient spray cooling system rapidly reduces the pipe temperature. This ensures precise outer diameter accuracy and uniform wall thickness. The single-chamber model is ideal for small to medium diameters and standard line speeds; the double-chamber model allows independent vacuum and cooling control in two stages, making it particularly suitable for large-diameter or high-quality pipes. Covers pipe diameters from 16 mm up to 630 mm (expandable to 1200 mm), meeting all needs from residential pipes to municipal water supply, gas pipes, and electrical conduits.
Key Advantages
✅ High-precision sizing, reduce scrap rate by 30% – Stable and adjustable vacuum keeps the pipe tightly against the sizing sleeve, achieving outer diameter tolerance within ±0.2 mm and significantly improved wall thickness uniformity.
✅ High-efficiency spray cooling, increase line speed by 20% – Optimized fan nozzles with anti-clog design deliver uniform water mist coverage, improving heat exchange efficiency by 35% over traditional immersion cooling. Rapidly cools the pipe below its glass transition temperature, allowing higher extrusion speeds.
✅ VFD vacuum pump, save energy by 25%+ – Standard VFD control automatically adjusts vacuum level according to pipe diameter and line speed, avoiding continuous full-load operation. Actual data shows 25–30% annual electricity savings compared to fixed-speed pumps.
✅ Automatic water level control + large viewing window with LED light – Water level sensors monitor cooling water in real time and automatically add or drain water. Large tempered glass window with LED illumination allows easy observation of the sizing process inside the tank.
✅ Full stainless steel construction, 5-year corrosion resistance – All water-contact parts are SUS304 stainless steel (SUS316 optional), resistant to oxidation and chloride corrosion, suitable for 24/7 continuous operation, service life over 10 years.
✅ Easy maintenance, reduce downtime by 50% – Quick-clamp nozzle assembly, removable filter screen, and large-slope bottom drain design allow daily cleaning and nozzle replacement within 15 minutes. Vacuum lines include transparent inspection sections and drain ports.
Working Principle
After exiting the extruder die, the molten plastic pipe enters the vacuum calibration tank. The vacuum pump generates an adjustable negative pressure (0.02–0.08 MPa) inside the tank, which pulls the pipe wall tightly against the inner surface of the sizing sleeve, accurately replicating the sleeve’s dimensions and roundness. Simultaneously, multiple nozzles spray cooling water onto the pipe’s outer surface, quickly removing heat and solidifying the pipe to sufficient strength for further cooling in downstream tanks.
In the single-chamber design, vacuum and cooling occur in one chamber – compact and suitable for pipes up to 160mm. The double-chamber design uses the first chamber mainly for vacuum sizing and the second for intensive cooling, with independent vacuum adjustment for each chamber. This prevents internal stress or ovality issues that can occur when large-diameter pipes cool too quickly.
